Depression Treatments Move Beyond Electro-Shock

Electro-shock therapy is still considered the most effective treatment for severe depression, but researchers have begun experimenting with new ways to use electricity. Less intense treatments such as Magnetic Brain Stimulation and Vagus Nerve Stimulation may offer patients fewer side effects and a lower risk of memory loss.
